Who leaves a successful career in an MNC and returns to the village to indulge in dairy farming! Ghanshyam Meher has done the work which other people rarely dares to do. A Sambalpur based MBA student left his notable career from a Delhi based MNC to transform his dreams of having a dairy farm into reality. His decision, well-planned effort, and corollary success in this competitive field of business have pushed a wave of inspiration among the local farmers, small traders and youths.

Ghanshyam surely understands the revival of our primary sector farming and animal husbandry in the era of job craving is the need of the time. In India, since the Vedic times, cows are preached as the mother of all. We all know that milk is holistic food. Acknowledging this fact, Ghyanshyam Meher has passionate to pursue his career in dairy farming.

In 2010, he catalyzed his aspirations into Yagyaseni Dairy Farm at Dhamma village in Sambalpur. Amidst diverse narratives about dairy farming and mixed review from all corners, he took the risk to set up this farm. However, he has a strong determination of achieving success in this field.

“People generally queried me about the reason to open a dairy farm? My answer was to this was simple, if everyone looks for luxurious jobs in MNC, then one day will come when everyone starves for food.”

He opines that to install a commercial dairy unit the pre-requisites are electricity, communication, water and market. To bring productivity, he set up milk machines. For the well-being of cows, he constructed large sheds and open areas, cultivated fodders and process them manually instead of depending on readymade fodders and maintained proper sanitation in the workplace and ensured a 10:1 ratio of cows and labour so that each cow can be taken care of finely. He checks the food diet of each cow by himself. The proper market management planning adopted by him lifted his business.

“In the productive management, engross the farming and making profit out of it are two different aspects of business”

His dedication to the work and honesty to his profession pays him off with internal satisfaction and content. People from faraway places come to his small training programs for learning different management techniques and farming skills every year that brought a positive change in their life. For his work, in the year 2013, he was awarded the Western Odisha Dairy Farmers award.

Ghanshyam is proud that his work has changed the life of many and we are extremely proud to share his inspiring journey.
